Why must mRNA copies be made from DNA instead of DNA just doing the work itself? can you answer that?

Well mRna is a complementary copy of Dna. If the actual Dna strand were to be used rather than Rna the DNA can be damaged while doing all the processes with in the body. This would eventually mean DNA's may affect cells within the body. So instead they use a copy to prevent damaged to DNA strand 'important'.
