Imagine an aquatic photorophic bacterium living at depths at which sunlight penetrates poorly( e.e there is low light intensity). Its main source of energy is sunlight. This organism  (Rhodobacter sphaeriodes) ahs evolved the ability to invaginate is plasma membrane, in some cases even forming intracellular vesicles. These membranes are rich in photosynthetic reaction centers - proteins that convert light energy into an electrochemical gradient.

What is the benefit of remodeling the membrane in this case?
