What methods or theories are known to seperate magnesium oxide into magnesium and oxygen? Is there a process that uses aditional oxygen?

Wow, that'd be pretty hard to do, because magnesium oxide is a pretty stable substance.  You could try heating it ALOT, but I don't think there is any direct way to do it.

If you pass H2 over it then it will pull off the oxygen and make water, and you can then hydrolyze the water with electricity to get the oxygen out, but otherwise you're out of luck.
