How many joules of energy are required to raise the temperature of 5g of water 10 degrees celcius?

First determine how many calories are required to raise the temp, then convert calories to Joules.

5 calories are required because the definition of calorie is the amount of heat necessary to raise 1 g of water 1 degree celsius.


 1 Joule = .239 calorie

So divide 5 by .239

your answer is 20.92 Joules
