I need someone to show me how to solve this system of equation for me:
2x+4y=36
10y=5
I got the right answers (x=17 and y=1/2) I just am not sure how I actually solved it. I am supposed to be using either the elimination method or the substitution method. Can someone please work this out for me so I can see what I did?

Substitution is easier.  You can rewrite the second equation:

10y = 5
10y / 10 = 5 / 10
y = 1/2

Now you can substitute that value in for y in the first equation to solve for x:
2x + 4y = 36
2x + 4(1/2) = 36
2x + 2 = 36
2x = 34
2x / 2 = 34 / 2
x = 17.

10y= 5 , so y =1/2 ( you are right!)
Then you take y in the first equation, and you replace it with 1/2, which gives you:
2x + 4(1/2) = 36, so
2x +2 =36, so
 2x =34, so x = 17
