Peptide bonds, which are -CONH-.  The peptide bond is formed from the carboxyl group of one amino acid and the the amino group from another amino acid.

Hope this helps Slight Smile

i was mainly wondering if covelant cross linked disulfide bonds really count as "bonding" the amino acids. like do they just give the protien stability outside the cell and give it some extra armor? or are they really legitament bonds that are vital to the structure of the amino acid?

also...

can the protien still form its tasks when the disulfide bond is present(i know it doesnt change its conformation so it shouldnt change its tasks) or does it have to be reduced which breaks the bonds to do is job?

the significance of these bonds is making wander!

each amino acid contains 1 amino group(NH2) on one end of the molecule and a carboxyl group on the other(COOH). There are about 20 different amino acid group, the differences between the amino acids are due to the difference functional groups.
