I made this simple invention from a company's product. I would like to show it to them. I do not have money to patent it. If I should show it to them, will they give me fair compensation? How should I go about it?

A friend of mine was in the same situation a few years ago. He showed the company his idea, they said sorry we are not interested. A month later they were producing and selling his idea.

I don't think so....most companies do not care if it is your invention, never mind compensating you for it.

You can look into provisional patent.  Less expensive, but gives you a year to file a full patent if you decide this is the route you want to go.
