1,3,5 -- Patient education should focus on the continued progression of exercise and ambulation. There will be some degree of discomfort when exercising the affected limb but this can be controlled with mild analgesics. Patient should be instructed to report increasing pain, redness, swelling, fever, or deformity of hip. Postoperative pain medication will be necessary for longer than two days. Without proper pain control, the patient may not progress with exercise and ambulation. Recovery from total hip replacement is 80% complete in 4 weeks and 100% complete in six months.
Don't forget to give me a thumbs up!
