Erythrocytes (red blood cells). They are tested for the presence of surface antibodies to determine what blood group the person belongs to.

Red blood cells don't have any DNA, they haven't got a nucleus so they cannot self replicate.

Some of these answers are just plain daft.  Blood typing is done on the red blood cells.  This has nothing to do with DNA (red blood cells in the human do not contain DNA unlike the frog).  Further typing is dependent on white blood cells.  So, blood groups and Rhesus are down to red blood cells, but transplantation is more about white cells which control the levels of immune response and will attack "non-self" cells.
