HI. I am doing some work on the metacarpal bones which are in the palm of your hand. Does anyone know of any abnormalities or difformities that can occur with them. Or disease.

it is spelled deformities.

And deformities can arise from the use of splints after a fracture, if the fractures are not set properly.

Also osteoporosis, pseudoepiphyses (lumps) and also birth defects that cause the shortness of one or some of the metacarpal bones.

osteoarthritis, leprosy, TB, a number if different dysplasias, rheumatoid arthritis, fracture calluses, several different neoplasms could affect them, rickets, scurvey... the list can go on. Some disease will have a tendency to affect them more than others of course, particularly rheumatoid arthritis.
