The suggested mechanism for the reaction A + 2B + C  D the suggested mechanism follows.Leftwards Arrow> means reversible reaction (double arrow) and -> is yields.

A + B Leftwards Arrow> X   slow

X + C -> Y   fast

Y + B -> D   fast

Derive the rate equation for the reaction from this mechanism. Enter the following orders as integers.

The question asks for me to find the order of reaction irt (in respect to) A, B, and C.  I could easily do this if given experimental data, but my teacher hasn't gone over mechanisms yet.

From what I've gathered on the internet, the rate of reaction is based upon the slowest elementary reaction piece (rate determining step) when the reaction is broken down.  So would this mean that the rate of A = 1, B = 1, and C = 0?

I tried doing it this way with a past question asking the orders of reaction for ozone (O3) and oxygen gas (O2) in the decomposition of ozone.  I got 1st order irt ozone and 0 order irt oxygen, but that was wrong.

I am really confused and need help soon!

Thank you!

I think ripp2373 is missing [ b ] beside the [ a ].
