Try watching youtube video's to understand concepts, as I find it really helps. Then if reading doesn't help you understand definitions much, I make myself flashcards!

Hope that helps Slight Smile

Or, the best videos are the flash animations on the concepts. They helped me so much.

Practice multiple choice questions are also very valuable.

Just surf the web for each different system you're learning about. I was awful in Biology, but youtube and animations online saved me.

The most important thing is your notes.  Your notes should be a combination of three things: what your professor writes, what your professor says that isn't written, and notes from the textbook that are neither mentioned in class notes nor the professor.  After that, it's just do practice problems and see if you can apply what you've learned.

Make concept maps, they increase your retention and allow you to memorize more than just note making.

Or diagrams.

I seem to have a problem with studying for biology as well. Simply, you find out what is the best method of studying for you. Are you a visual learner? Or not?

Maybe you should try looking at your notes and rewriting them and testing yourself without looking at your notes. Draw the structures and label them. Try to draw out how the cell makes ATP and such similar processes. Explain it in writing.

Don't just do flashcards. Find someone to explain such complicated processes simply. If you find that you can teach someone and make it sound basic, then you have the concepts down.
