How was the exploitation different in the Caribbean than it was in South and Central America?

  A) The population was treated much the same but because the territory was smaller in the islands, less resources could be exploited and the damage was mitigated to these native populations.
  B) These people escaped to other indigenously inhabited territories for freedom only to find the entire territory enslaved.
  C) The reliance upon the islanders for access to scarce resources required a better working relationship and process of negotiation with them.
  D) The population here was much thinner, and quickly died off due to maltreatment and disease. They were eventually replaced with slaves from Africa.
  E) They were treated no differently.
