Trying to study for my quiz in pulmonary diseases and keep getting confused on the alkalosis and acidosis. Anyone have an easy way to remember it?

acidosis

High acid in the blood, so low pH.

alkalosis

Blood is very basic (alkaline), so high pH.

When arterial blood pH rises above 7.45, the body is in alkalosis; when arterial pH falls below 7.35, the body is in physiological acidosis.

You need to look at their labs (blood gases). Metabolic acidosis, low pH and low bicarbonate levels. Alkalosis is the opposite.
