Question: The oxidation of 2-butanone (CH3COC2H5) by the cerium(IV) ion in aqueous solution to form acetic acid (CH3CO2H) occurs according to the following balanced equation:
CH3COC2H5(aq)+6Ce4+(aq)+3H2O(l)→ 2CH3CO2H(aq)+6Ce3+(aq)+6H+(aq)

A) If acetic acid appears at an average rate of 5.2×10−8M/s what is Δ[H+]Δt during the same time interval?

B) What is the average rate of consumption of Ce4+ during the same time interval?

I got A) wrong i multpled 5.2x 10-8M/s with 1/2, ...since Acetic acid has 2 moles in product

you're forgetting to take into consideration the 6 moles of hydrogen that forms per 2 moles of acetic acid formed.....if the rate of formation for acetic acid is 5.2*10 ^ -8 M/s ....then the formation of hydrogen should be 6/2 = 3 times that value.... so simplified should be (5.2*10 ^ - 8 M/s) *3 ...from the looks of it, B should be the same answer as A since it's another 6/2 ratio ..I haven't taken gen chem in awhile, so someone might need to verify, but I'm pretty sure my reasoning is correct.....

haha alexx you got me this time
