The nurse should document vital signs during the transfusion. The nurse should not store or preserve blood or blood components in the nursing unit before infusion. Saline (0.9) and blood can be administered jointly. Two, not just one, licensed personnel should identify the client and unit of blood before the transfusion procedure.
