When planning care for this family, which of the following goals should the nurse identify as the priority?
  A) The client will maintain self-care abilities for at least 24 months.
  B) The family will discuss the correct emotional responses to the client's diagnosis.

Ans: D
Feedback:
As the client's cognitive abilities and behavior deteriorate, the needs of the client and family will become more extensive and will require careful planning and coordination. Fostering accountability, however, is not a primary goal. Emotional responses are inevitable, but these are not categorized as being correct or incorrect. Two years of self-care may be unrealistic.
