How are functions reflected in your everyday life?

Anything that requires an input value in order to obtain an output value can be regarded as a function. For example, as a sale representative, you can calculate your earnings by multiplying the number of hours worked by a rate to obtain how much money was earned. Or if you're travelling, you can use functions to determine how long a trip will take by dividing the distance travelled to the average speed. Similarly, when paying taxes, you can model how much will be paid by writing all the conditions as a piece-wise function. Thus, functions can be used as models for predicting further values on a continuous basis.

Functions can be used to better manage my time. Sometimes I find myself spending too much time on the phone or on my computer, when I could be using that time more wisely studying. That said, I could create a "piece-wise" function to better organize my day, and to ensure my time is being spent correctly.
