If a patient has an NG-tube and you notice that the tape is no longer secure to her nose and more of the NG-tube is hanging out of her nose, the patient would be at risk or aspiration. But what would you do about the NG-tube?

What I would do is first evaluate the extent of the problem and determine if the NG-tube is still properly positioned within the patient's stomach or if it has moved out of place. If the tube has significantly moved or is completely out, it may require reinsertion or repositioning. Once it has been repositioned, it will need to be re-secured using new tape/adhesive.

Hope that helps !
