I understand that pepsin reacts well only when in an acidic pH of 2, however, I wondering why pepsin doesn't react when in a basic environment. what is the reasoning for it's inability?

there are several factors that can denature enzymes and ph is one of them so pepsin in particular works fine in an acidic environment but stops working when in a basic environment because the change in ph has denatured it
