Alcohols have the general formula:
C(n)H(m)OH  where m = n*2+1

Whereas Alkenes have:
C(i)H(j)   where j = i*2

The only element that is missing in an Alkene is "O", or Oxygen.

Oxygen.  Alkenes are made of Cand H only; Alcohols have an -OH group somplace.
