In a series circuit, whats the difference between the equivalent resistance and total resistance?
And in parallel?

And how do you find equivalent/total for each?

Total for series resistance:

Rt = R1+R2+R3 etc...

For parallel resistance:

Rt= 1/R1+R2+R3 etc...

The equivalent resistance will be probably a question relating to a combination of both series and parallel resistances or a part of a circuit... just use the equations above...
