The small number of women in management made her appear "different" from the other managers. Her boss's bias against women made it virtually impossible for her ideas to be adopted by the company and for her to be credited with (and rewarded for) the work. She and her female coworkers had to demean themselves by praising a male manager so he would present the idea as his own. The women then played only a supporting role in presenting the idea to the boss. When the idea was accepted, the male manager got all the credit.
