1 -- Elevated cortisol levels impair the immune response and put the patient with Cushing’s syndrome at risk for infection. A generalized feeling of malaise may be the primary manifestation of infection. Patients with Cushing’s syndrome typically experience weight gain, not weight loss. Patients typically experience muscle weakness and fatigue rather than tremors or a sense of increased energy.
