The question is Explain why the calculation (a x b) x c is not meaningful?

The answer is: a x b is a scalar, and a dot product is only defined for vectors.

I dont understand why, isnt a x b  A vector since it has the arrows on the top.

if we denote a vector by <>
and we have and then dot is a scalar number by definition and is equal to mag time mag times the sine of the angle between them.
