A. Heartwood is closer to the center of the stem; sapwood is away from the center of the stem.
B. Heartwood does not conduct water; sapwood is active in fluid transport.
C. Heartwood contains xylem tissue; sapwood contains phloem tissue.

The only option here which isn't wrong and tries to offer an explanation is B. But really heartwood is darker because secondary metabolites, generally polyphenols are synthetized depending on species and those also confer color. In maple for example heartwood and sapwood are rather similar in color.
