I/'m trying to figure out if I should take Precalculus Algebra(mth112) or Precalculus with Trig (mth113). I want to take mth113 because I can go ahead and take Chemistry afterwards since 113 is a prerequisite for it. However, if I'm going to miss important things I need to know from mth112 I'll take both. Any advice? Thanks!

At the community college that I went to school at (and that I presently tutor math at), Math 112 and 113 use the same books.  112 is the first half of the book, and 113 is the second half.  Their is also a Math 115 class that combines 112 and 113 together.  If your school offers this, it might be best to take it.  I don't know if you will miss things that you may need, but I can tell you that I personally took Math 112 and not 113.  I then went on to take Math 121 (business calculus) and had a high A in the class.  So, I didn't miss anything by not taking 113.

The truth is 113 builds on 112 so you really need to start with 112.
In 112 they will go over some things that your high school teacher missed and it is a great review for you.

If you're good at picking up math, I'd go with 113 because if you're planning on taking calc. the trig will really help.

If you don't have a strong algebra foundation, it wouldn't hurt to take 112 since 113 will probably refer back to info learned in 112.
If you are reading this, you are awesome, and I wish you a happy and prosperous day!
