B) Joseph Fletcher who developed situational ethics believed that applying the Golden Rule, treating others as you would like to be treated yourself, was more important in making ethical decisions than following the rules set out by society. This ethical approach encourages people to make ethical decisions based upon the circumstances of a particular experience, not upon fixed laws because it implies that universal rules either do not exist or are not valid. This was considered a very controversial approach.
