Use the concluding discussion section and the knowledge you have gained from this chapters text and music to answer the following question. Imagine you are going to attempt a cross-cultural experience with one of the African music-cultures that you studied in this chapter. If you could travel to one the areas covered and try to understand the local music-culture, how would you approach your task? What would you expect to encounter? What problems and barriers to understanding might you encounter? How would you overcome these barriers? (Answers will vary.)
