How were humanist principles accepted by the Christians of Europe?
 
  A) There was a strong backlash by the Catholic Church feeling usurped in their authority, but lay people embraced these ideals with little resistance.
  B) The Christians of Europe were incensed at the humanists for embracing pagan principles.
