What changes have occurred in American family patterns since the 1960s? How have economic factors and new social values been reflected in these changes?

The ideal answer should include:
1. More women are working, particularly more married women.
2. More households are divorced, although the divorce rate has leveled off.
3. Economic factors play a role in the first, as more women need to work to support their families. One income is not enough.
4. Social values are reflected in the second as divorce laws have liberalized.
5. Economic and social factors have combined in that families tend to be smaller; couples often cannot afford to have more than one or two children.
