Hailey, a botany student, wrote an article about a new strain of corn that needs little water and no fertilizer to grow.

Her article was filled with facts and scientific terms describing how the corn bears draught conditions and the special precautions to be taken while planting and tending it. All her facts were backed by research and verified by senior botanists. Despite being very insightful and helpful, the local newspaper refused to publish the article. What essential property of a story did Hailey's story lack, and why did the newspaper refuse to publish it?

  a) Simplicity; because heavy scientific words would prevent the majority of the readers from understanding the story
  b) Attribution; because the botanists who verified Hailey's story were not attributed in the story
  c) Information; because the story could have been Hailey's opinion and not fact
  d) Accuracy; because many of the scientific words and terms had complicated spellings, and there was no way to verify their correctness
