Anticoagulants alter normal clotting factors and thus increase the risk for hemorrhaging during surgery. Aminoglycosides (a type of antibiotic) may cause mild respiratory depression from de-pressed neuromuscular transmission; however, the client who has been taking anticoagulants is at greater risk during surgery.
