New research has revealed the neural pathways that marijuana activates to convince the brain it's starving. The study in mice found that the active ingredient in weed, tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, binds to receptors in the brain's olfactory bulb, significantly increasing our sensitivity to scents and flavours, which then causes us to crave food more.
