Key barriers that prevent interventions from reaching the clinical populations for whom they have been designed do NOT include:
 
  a. researchers not always understanding the clinical applicability of their basic research
  b. researchers not being able to locate populations that are willing to be involved in the interventions.
  c. a reluctance of clinicians to accept the value of basic research-driven interventions.
  d. various institutional-level constraints such as lack of time, training, or funding.
