A codon is a triplet of nucleotides on the mRNA strand that is translated into an amino-acid during protein synthesis. The term "codon" is also used for the codons that indicate the end of protein synthesis without translating any amino acid.
For example, for the mRNA strand 5'-AUG-GGA-ACA-UGA-3' the triplets AUG, GGA, ACA and UGA are codons.
The term codon can also be used for the corresponding coding strand of the DNA from which the mRNA is transcribed. So, for each codon on the mRNA strand, there is a codon on the coding strand of the DNA. The differences between the corresponding DNA and RNA codons is that in DNA T is used instead of U.
For our example, the coding strand of the DNA that transcribed the mRNA should include the codons ATG, GGA, ACA, TGA.

Each codon of the mRNA (except the stop codons) have a corresponding anti codon which is complementary to the codon. The anti codon is present on the tRNA molecules that transfer the amino acids. The anti codon is used so that the correct tRNA can "detect" and bind with the codon of the mRNA so that protein synthesis can continue.

Later you will learn that the anti codons usually aren't completely complementary with each codon. Only the first 2 nucleotides of the codon are always complementary with the anticodons, while the 3rd might not be. (that is why, although there is one tRNA for each amino acid, each amino-acid can be translated by more than one codons.
But, you'll probably won't need that information yet.
