Feedback:
Much of the immediate postoperative care is concerned with physiologic needs. During the perioperative period, the nurse can help the client to feel safe and secure with empathetic teaching and support. The client's friends and family can assist the client to feel loved and cared for. Finally, the client is encouraged to participate in own care as much as possible to enhance self-esteem and self-actualization.
