One of the nurse manager's staff members is always complaining about his assignment. The manager should:

  A) use nonverbal behaviors to modify his behavior.
  B) use assertive communication skills to confront the issue.
  C) let him make out his own assignments.
  D) ask his or her supervisor to talk to him about his attitude.

Ans: B
Feedback:
Nonverbal behavior could be misinterpreted and it also does not clearly identify his or her expectations. Using I and describing how the nurse expects him to behave let him know what is expected. It would be unfair to allow one employee to create his or her own assignments and a manager is expected to try to resolve issues.
