A child with autism visits the clinic with his parents. The child has been taking haloperidol (Haldol) for approximately 6 months. The nurse should assess the child for common side effects of the drug, and explain to the parents that:

  A) Your son may experience difficulties sleeping at night because of taking this medication.
  B) Your son may have more than normal problems with short-term memory because of taking this medication.
  C) Side effects of this medication are uncommon in children this age, but we like to check anyway because, when they do occur, they are more severe in children.
  D) The child's physician may recommend that your child not take this medication for a few months in order to determine if he still needs it.
