The inheritance of acquired characteristics was widely regarded as true up to the beginning of the 20th century. Explain the concept and how it was thought to fit into the evolutionary process by its supporters. Certain discoveries undermined the importance of the concept for most biologists. Hey alex :
The inheritance of acquired characteristics in Charles Darwin was considered a blod mixture , Darwin  had a problem in explain is theroy , he explain it by observation ,not by a firm proofwhen mendal come into place in the genetic world he chancg all the conseptes of inheritance of acquired characteristics , he show hs resultes to darwin , but he never had a chance to see it .
the view had chang sance then & we know that the inheritance is by the recombination in the cell divison process. it changed our understanding of the evolutionary significance of the inheritance of acquired characteristics by "predicting" futre genetic illness ( for one exemple) .
