Which of the following is true regarding syphilis infection in pregnancy?

  A) If syphilis is successfully treated before the 4th month of pregnancy, the fetus likely will not be affected.
  B) Because a syphilis infection is a threat to the fetus only during delivery, a c-section can prevent the baby from experiencing any complications from a mother's infection.
  C) As long as a baby survives pregnancy, he/she will not experience complications from a mother's syphilis infection.
  D) Because there is no effective treatment for syphilis during pregnancy, pregnant women with the infection are advised to abort.
