Anabolic reactions include the following: for carbohydrate, glucose molecules are combined to form glycogen; for fat, a glycerol and three fatty acid molecules form triglycerides; and for protein, amino acids combine to form proteins. Catabolic reactions show the reverse, where glycogen is broken down into molecules of glucose, triglycerides are broken down into glycerol and three fatty acids, and proteins are broken down into amino acids.
