Generally, a minor is obligated only to return the goods or property he or she has received from the adult in the condition it is in at the time of disaffirmance, even if the item has been consumed, lost, or destroyed or has depreciated in value by the time of disaffirmance. This rule, called the duty of restoration, is based on the rationale that if a minor had to place the adult in status quo upon disaffirmance of a contract, there would be no incentive for an adult not to deal with a minor.
