What is the diffence between a vector and a plasmid?  One has DNA inserted but which one?

A plasmid is a vector. Plasmids are circular pieces of DNA that carry genes. By definition, a vector is a DNA molecule used as a vehicle to transfer foreign genetic material into another cell. The two main types are plasmids and viruses.
