latitudinal diversity gradients are hard to test due to they are dependent upon the historical, geographic, biotic, abiotic and stochastic forces.affecting the geometr, the internal structure and location of species ranges in ecological or revolutionary time. Latitude is a surrogate for a number of primary environmental gradients(temp, insolation, seasonality) that interact and are correlated to each other. This is why it is so difficult to test the hypotheses
