Why do big baleen whales, such as the blue whale, eat small creatures such as krill?

  a) krill are highly abundant because they are near the bottom of the food web, so there is more biomass to support large animals
  b) they are so large and heavy that they cannot swim fast enough to catch larger prey
  c) baleen whales feed on the ocean floor, where krill live in the sediment
  d) krill contain critical nutrients that the big whales need to survive
  e) Only big baleen whales are fast enough to catch krill in large numbers
