My professor went over how to do these tables in class, and I didn't understand anything! Anyone familiar with these types of tables and could maybe point me in the right direction of how to go about solving it? Thank you!

The map of the lac operon is POZY. You should understand definitions of O, Z, and Y in the lac operon. The promoter (P) region is the start site of transcription through the binding of the RNA polymerase molecule before actual mRNA production. Mutationally altered promoters (P–) apparently cannot bind the RNA polymerase molecule. Certain predictions can be made about the effect of P– mutations. Use your predictions and your knowledge of the lactose system to complete the following table. Insert a “+” where an enzyme is produced and a “–” where no enzyme is produced.

How did you figure all of that out though? I need to be able to understand the method so I can be able to participate in class tomorrow. But thank you for those solutions!

You're welcome, I found them in a solutions manual. Not sure how they were done.

Do you think you can show me the link to where you got those solutions? Still confused as to how to solve this.
