Why is it important that factors other than body mass index be taken into account when diagnosing obesity and overweight, especially in athletic individuals?

Because athletic people tend to have more muscle mass, and if you just look at say the BMI chart it will say someone that weighs 200 pounds and is 6'0 is overweight, but in actuality they have about an extra 20 pounds of muscle, work out almost daily, and are lean and trim.
