1. When you are discussing human evolutionwith a friend, s/he asks, “If humans evolved from apes, why are apes stillaround?” Based on your understanding of human evolution, what would you say toher/im?

2. Use an example to illustrate how the general morphology of the various organs of a plant are correlated with their function(s).  For example, why are leaves generally thin and flat?

Multiple view point will be very appreciated.Thank you

Humans and modern apes are cousins. They share the same ancestor.

Your question is like saying, "How can my cousins exist when we all have the same grandparents?"

Just because an ape on the plains evolved into humans, doesn't mean apes in the mountains had to disappear.

The "humans" and the "apes" came from a common ancestor. One of that common ancestor's children, mutated to become a prototype human but the rest of the children did not mutate. Your question is almost like asking why your first cousins are not identical to you, even though you share one set of grand-parents with your first cousins.

Imagine a set of identical twin girls, Moreen and Doreen, who have white skin. Moreen marries a white man and Doreen marries a black man. Moreen's children and Doreen's children are first cousins but Moreen's children are white and Doreen's children have light brown skin. Would you ask, "How can these children have different skin colours when they share one set of grand-parents"?

If your skin mutates (skin cancer) due to exposure to ultra-violet light (sunlight), your brothers and sisters will not necessarily experience skin mutation. This is not 100% analogous but it should give you some idea of the situation.
