During glycolysis, NADH is formed when hydrogen atoms are transferred to an electron acceptor called NAD+. NAD+ accepts 2 electrons and 1 proton to form NADH. This occurs when glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate is converted to 1,3-diphosphoglycerate, forming 2 NADH molecules.
